IDF Detains Israeli Civilians Attempting to Cross Into Syria for Second Time

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that earlier on Monday, its troops detained several Israeli civilians who tried to cross the border into Syrian territory near Mount Hermon. According to the IDF spokesperson, the forces prevented the civilians from advancing and handed them over to the Israeli police for further processing. The IDF strongly condemned the incident, noting it follows similar recent cases.

The military emphasized that crossing into Syria is a criminal offense that endangers civilian lives and could disrupt security operations in the area. The IDF called on law enforcement agencies to take firm action against those involved to prevent recurrence. This event follows previous incidents involving members of the "Pioneers of Bashan" movement, who have crossed into Syria since the IDF entered the buffer zone along the Golan Heights border.

The activists argue for establishing civilian settlements in the area to strengthen Israel's hold on the territory. Their renewed activity comes after the IDF's elite Etzioni Brigade neutralized an armed terrorist cell last week, which was reportedly en route to carry out an attack against Golan Heights communities.
