Two Israeli Civilians Cross Into Syria, Returned by IDF and Handed to Police

Early Thursday, two Israeli civilians crossed the border from the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights into Syrian territory near Mount Hermon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) quickly deployed a military unit to locate the individuals. After successfully finding them, the IDF returned the two civilians to Israeli territory. Upon their return, they were detained and transferred to the Israeli police for further handling.

The IDF condemned the incident, stressing that such unauthorized border crossings endanger not only the civilians involved but also disrupt military operations in the area. The military spokesperson noted that this was not the first time these individuals had been involved in similar incidents. The IDF called on law enforcement agencies to take strict legal action against those responsible to prevent recurrence of these illegal crossings, which constitute a criminal offense.

The IDF emphasized the seriousness of the event and the risks it poses to soldiers operating in the region. Following the military’s intervention, the ongoing investigation and legal processing of the civilians are now under the jurisdiction of the Israeli police.
