נשיא המדינה יצחק הרצוג החליט לבטל את הרישום הפלילי של אלאור אזריה. שר הביטחון, ישראל כץ, בירך על ההחלטה וכינה אותה "נכונה, אנושית וראויה". כץ הוסיף כי ההחלטה, שהתקבלה ערב יום הכיפורים, מבטאת את רוח הסליחה ומאפשרת לאזריה לפתוח דף חדש בחייו.
