Israel's Supreme Court has rejected a petition filed by the Shas party that sought to overturn a decision preventing a memorial event for Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the late spiritual leader of the Sephardic Haredi community. The court's ruling means the planned event will not proceed.

During the court proceedings, attorney Guy Bussi, representing Shas, strongly criticized the Attorney General's office, stating, "The Attorney General has launched a crusade and a war of persecution against the legacy of Maran." Shas released a statement following the decision, asserting that it only strengthens their resolve to fundamentally reform the justice system and return power to the people and their elected officials. The party declared, "Neither the Supreme Court nor the Attorney General will succeed in stopping the legacy of Maran."
