Shas Party Vows to Fight Election Commission Decision on Rabbi Ovadia Yosef Memorial Event
The Shas party announced it will petition the Central Elections Committee to overturn a decision to postpone a memorial event for Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, a revered spiritual leader.
The party is vehemently opposing the proposal, put forth by the "discharged legal advisor," to hold the "Marana" (our master) Rabbi Ovadia Yosef's heritage conference after the upcoming elections. Shas stated that the decision is a "severe blow to millions of tradition-keepers" and a "blatant trampling of the Marana Heritage Law."
In a sharp response, Shas declared, "Shas will not give up and will petition the Central Elections Committee against the arbitrary decision. For the honor of Marana, we will not remain silent."
The party argues that the decision lacks any logical reasoning and infringes upon the rights of those who wish to honor Rabbi Yosef's memory and legacy. The Marana Heritage Law, which Shas references, was passed unanimously by the Knesset.
