ועדת המעקב העליונה של הציבור הערבי מתייחסת בחומרה רבה להקמת מאחז חדש בעיר מגד אל-כרום שבצפון ישראל. יו"ר הוועדה, מאזן ע'נאים, כינה את המהלך "תקדים מסוכן הדורש החלטה ברורה", והדגיש כי הסוגיה אינה נוגעת רק למגד אל-כרום, אלא משפיעה על עתיד הקרקעות הערביות באזור כולו. הקרן הקיימת לישראל צפויה לקיים היום דיון חירום בנושא, על רקע התגברות המחאה העממית והפוליטית נגד הקמת המאחז. הדיון מתקיים על רקע מתיחות גוברת והתנגדות נרחבת לצעדים אלו.
