Joint List Denounces Settlement Outpost Near Majd al-Krum

The Joint List coalition issued a statement on Friday condemning the establishment of a settlement outpost in the al-Rous area near the town of Majd al-Krum. The coalition declared its solidarity with the residents of Majd al-Krum, its popular committee, and its local council, strongly denouncing the outpost built on land largely owned by the town's residents.

The Joint List asserted that the events in Majd al-Krum are not isolated but represent a direct implementation of their repeated warnings. They accused Prime Minister Netanyahu, Finance Minister Smotrich, and National Security Minister Ben-Gvir of seeking to extend settlement and expulsion policies from the West Bank into Arab towns in the Galilee and Negev.

The coalition highlighted that the arrival of "hilltop youth" from West Bank settlements to Majd al-Krum's lands, coinciding with a ten-year plan in Karmiel to bolster Jewish settlement and alter the demographic balance in the Galilee, indicates an ongoing plan rather than a future concern. The approaching olive harvest season, they warned, exacerbates the immediate danger to landowners.

Concluding their statement, the Joint List framed the issue as an existential battle for their land, emphasizing that high voter turnout in the upcoming elections is crucial to politically counter the government's policies. They pledged to halt the outpost's establishment and demanded accountability for those who facilitated it administratively and legally, urging a high vote on October 27th as the primary defense for the Galilee and Negev.
