Beitar Jerusalem Makes Improved Offer for Midfielder Alexis Serna
Beitar Jerusalem is determined to acquire midfielder Alexis Serna from Colombian club Independiente Medellín, submitting a third, enhanced offer on Wednesday. The Israeli club's latest proposal stands at $550,000, excluding potential future bonuses and a percentage of the player's rights that would remain with Medellín.
Beitar Jerusalem's initial attempts to sign the 28-year-old Serna were unsuccessful. The first offer was for a loan with an option to buy, which was rejected. A subsequent offer of $400,000 was also turned down by the Colombian team.
The club is hopeful that this improved bid will be accepted, as Serna is considered their primary midfield target. Serna, who is 1.70 meters tall, recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances last season. He is currently under contract with Independiente Medellín until the end of 2027.
Beitar Jerusalem has had a disappointing start to their season, suffering losses to Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv in the first two league matches. They secured their first points on Monday with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin.
