Israeli Tourist Reported Missing Amid Deadly Nepal-Tibet Floods with Death Toll at 95

A severe flash flood and mudslide disaster struck northern Nepal and Tibet on Wednesday, resulting in at least 95 confirmed deaths and 384 people reported missing. The catastrophe has devastated four to five villages, burying them under thick layers of mud, and has swept away 28 buses carrying approximately 350 tourists, many of whose identities and nationalities remain unknown.

The international rescue unit of ZAKA, an Israeli emergency response organization, is actively coordinating with the Israeli embassy in Nepal and local authorities in both Nepal and Tibet. While there is currently no confirmed Israeli casualty, ZAKA is investigating reports of an Israeli tourist missing in the Tibetan region, with concerns that the individual may be trapped.

Chinese state media reported significant casualties and missing persons in the Gyirong area on the Tibetan side of the border. Due to the scale of the disaster and inaccessible areas, officials fear the death toll and number of missing persons could rise further. Rescue and recovery efforts continue amid challenging conditions.

The Israeli embassy and ZAKA maintain ongoing communication to monitor the situation and provide assistance as needed. The situation remains fluid as authorities work to reach affected areas and account for all missing individuals.
