Israeli Family Held Hostage by Taxi Driver in Athens Demands 600 Euros

An Israeli tourist family faced a threatening incident in Athens when their taxi driver demanded 600 euros for a ride from the airport to their hotel. According to Greek police, upon reaching the city center, the driver threatened the family with violence and refused to let them exit the vehicle or retrieve their luggage from the trunk until they paid the demanded amount. The family filed a complaint at the police unit in the Syntagma area. Following an investigation and digital data analysis, authorities identified and arrested the 38-year-old driver. He was brought before prosecutors in Athens on suspicion of robbery. Additionally, police are investigating another complaint against him for allegedly attempting to extort 800 euros from another tourist.
