Miki Peled, Founder of Israel's Festigal Entertainment Event, Dies at 87

Miki Peled, a pioneering figure in Israel's entertainment industry and co-founder of the Festigal, passed away at the age of 87. Born in Romania, Peled immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. From a young age, he showed a passion for the performing arts and a unique ability to understand Israeli audiences' tastes. In 1981, he initiated and produced the first Festigal, which quickly became a beloved annual cultural tradition in Israel.

Peled's son, Yaron Peled, who also worked alongside him, described him as more than just a producer, highlighting his talent for dreaming, recognizing talent, giving opportunities, and inspiring belief in others. Beyond Festigal, Peled contributed to numerous shows and cultural events, collaborating with leading Israeli artists and creators. His extensive contributions to Israeli culture earned him a lifetime achievement award from ACUM, the Israeli Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

Colleagues and friends remember Peled not only as a successful producer but also as a mentor and friend who believed in people even when they doubted themselves. He is survived by his wife Tami, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as generations of artists and professionals influenced by his work. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 4:00 PM at the Kiryat Shaul Cemetery in Tel Aviv.
