Legendary Israeli Producer Miki Peled, Founder of Festigal, Dies at 87

Miki Peled, a leading figure in Israel's entertainment industry and the creator of the annual Festigal show, passed away at the age of 87, his family announced on Monday. Born in Romania in 1939, Peled immigrated to Israel with his family in 1948. Over several decades, he produced numerous large-scale entertainment and cultural events. In 1981, he initiated and produced the first Festigal, which became a central annual tradition in Israeli children's and youth culture under his leadership.

Peled collaborated with many of Israel's top artists and played a key role in shaping the local production industry. In recognition of his long-standing contributions to entertainment, he received a lifetime achievement award from ACUM, the Israeli composers' and songwriters' rights organization. His son and business partner, Yaron Peled, eulogized him as more than a producer, describing him as a visionary who recognized talent, provided opportunities, and inspired belief in others.

Miki Peled is survived by his wife Tami, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Kiryat Shaul Cemetery.
