Judge Allows Itamar Ben Gvir to Attend Police Volunteers Event Without Election Campaigning

Judge Noam Solberg rejected the position of the State Attorney's Office and ruled that Minister Itamar Ben Gvir may participate in the "Appreciation Evening" for police volunteers, provided he refrains from any election campaigning during the event. The decision came after Ben Gvir committed, including in a sworn affidavit, not to deliver any campaign messages at the gathering.

In his ruling, Solberg emphasized that the ban on electioneering applies not only to Ben Gvir but to all participants at the event, prohibiting any form of election campaigning by anyone present. This ruling overturned the State Attorney's Office's objection and allowed Ben Gvir to appear at the event, which he described as a "state and professional" occasion rather than a political campaign event.

The judge's decision focused on Ben Gvir's explicit commitment to avoid political promotion, which was central to dismissing the petition against his participation. All attendees must adhere to the restriction on electioneering throughout the event, ensuring it remains free of political campaigning.
