Minister Itamar Ben Gvir Demands Legal Advisor's Removal Over Election Coordination Meeting

Minister Itamar Ben Gvir sharply criticized Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara following a coordination meeting ahead of Israel's 26th Knesset elections. The meeting involved Central Elections Committee Chair Judge Noam Solberg, Acting CEO Attorney Din Livna, Baharav-Miara, State Attorney Amit Isman, and their teams. It focused on enforcement strategies to ensure election integrity, including combating election law violations, preventing improper voter influence, and maintaining access to polling stations by prohibiting road blockages on voting day.

Ben Gvir accused the Attorney General of undermining election purity and public trust, calling on Judge Solberg to remove her from any election-related involvement. Judge Solberg emphasized that election integrity is fundamental to public confidence in democracy and stressed the importance of strict enforcement by all authorities. Baharav-Miara and Isman affirmed that law enforcement agencies will cooperate fully, impartially, and swiftly to address any criminal suspicions and ensure fair and clean elections.

The meeting was part of a series of discussions by the election committee leadership with law enforcement to prepare for the upcoming elections and safeguard democratic processes.
