Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir Attacks Attorney General Over Failed Police Intervention Talks

Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir sharply criticized Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara on Monday after she informed the Supreme Court that attempts to reach an agreement with him had failed. Ben-Gvir responded defiantly, saying, "Gali, I do not see you at all. You will continue trying to topple the right-wing government, and we will continue working and, God willing, we will win!"

Baharav-Miara had notified the Supreme Court that significant gaps remain between her and Ben-Gvir regarding his interference in police affairs, accusing him of violating the court's ruling. She noted that meetings held between the parties, as ordered by the judges, did not produce a mutually agreed framework. According to her, Ben-Gvir persists in political interference and undermining police independence.

The dispute centers on Ben-Gvir's involvement in police matters, which the Attorney General views as a breach of judicial decisions and a threat to the autonomy of law enforcement.
