Election Committee Orders Edits to Itamar Ben Gvir's Campaign Video Over Police Appearances

On Sunday, Supreme Election Committee Chairman Judge Noam Solberg mandated edits to a campaign video of Itamar Ben Gvir, Israel's National Security Minister, due to the presence of police officers and security personnel. The ruling requires that images of police officers serving as Ben Gvir's security detail be blurred in the video. This allows the video to continue showing the minister alongside his security team without revealing the officers' identities.

Additionally, Judge Solberg ordered the complete removal of short clips where police officers appear without Ben Gvir or where officers not part of his security detail are shown. Consequently, the video can only include blurred appearances of security personnel when Ben Gvir himself is present in the footage.

This decision effectively distinguishes three types of appearances: blurred security officers alongside Ben Gvir are permitted; any footage of officers without Ben Gvir must be removed; and clips showing officers outside his security team are also prohibited. To comply, the campaign video must be edited to blur security personnel and remove disallowed segments before further use.
