Judge Allows National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to Speak at Police Volunteers Event

Noam Solberg, chairman of Israel's Central Elections Committee, rejected a petition seeking to prevent National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from participating and speaking at an event honoring police volunteers and members of rapid response teams. The petition argued that Ben-Gvir's involvement could be viewed as election propaganda due to the connection between the event and his role in establishing over 1,000 rapid response teams across the country.

The government legal advisor, Gali Baharav-Miara, supported barring Ben-Gvir from the event, citing concerns over election-related activity. However, Ben-Gvir's attorney, Ze'ev Wolf, contended that the guidelines were specifically tailored for this event and that there was no justification to prevent the minister's participation. Judge Solberg accepted Wolf's position and dismissed the petition.

As a result, Ben-Gvir is permitted to attend and address the volunteers and rapid response team members. Following the ruling, Ben-Gvir criticized the legal advisor, stating that she had unsuccessfully tried to stop the establishment of the rapid response teams and had now failed again in attempting to block his attendance. He emphasized his role in founding over 1,000 such teams and expressed his intention to thank the thousands of volunteers risking their lives for Israeli citizens' security.
