Major Traffic Restrictions Begin at Tel Aviv's Bridge of Peace for Upgrades

Starting overnight on August 23, significant traffic changes will take place around the Bridge of Peace and Tel Aviv HaShalom train station due to extensive upgrade works by Netivei Ayalon, Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, and Israel Railways. The northbound exit to Ayalon Highway (Route 20) from the west side (central Tel Aviv) will be completely closed. Additionally, one lane on the bridge heading westbound will be reduced. These restrictions will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. between August 23 and 26, and continuously from midnight on August 27 until 5 a.m. on August 30.

Despite these closures, Ayalon Highway itself remains open in both directions. Traffic on the Bridge of Peace will continue as usual except for the lane reduction westbound. Drivers approaching from the west are advised to detour east on Derech HaShalom, then turn left onto Yigal Alon toward the Arlozorov Interchange or turn right before the bridge onto Yitzhak Sadeh or HaMasger streets to reconnect with Ayalon North via the La Guardia Interchange.

Public transportation bus lines will operate normally, and pedestrian access across the bridge will remain open and safe, with supervisors present throughout the works. At Tel Aviv HaShalom station, from 8 p.m. on August 25 until August 29, escalator replacements will prevent direct access from the northern hall to platform 1 (northbound trains). Passengers will be redirected via alternative routes with signage and staff assistance.
