Family Feud in East Jerusalem Escalates to Triple Fatality Including Two Shot by Border Police
A violent family dispute in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan escalated overnight between Saturday and Sunday, resulting in three deaths, including two suspects shot by Border Police forces. The conflict began as a violent altercation between families and quickly intensified, prompting police deployment to the scene. During the incident, two individuals were evacuated to the hospital; one, a man around 30 years old, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, while the other was in critical condition.
Paramedics described the scene as severe, noting the deceased man was found unconscious with severe penetrating injuries. Following the initial violence, suspects engaged in further aggression by firing live ammunition, shooting fireworks, and throwing Molotov cocktails, leading to a significant escalation in unrest in Silwan. Large police forces, including Border Police units, were dispatched to restore order and apprehend suspects.
During the operation, Border Police identified two suspects armed with knives and Molotov cocktails who posed an immediate threat to the officers' lives. The forces opened fire to neutralize the danger, resulting in the deaths of both suspects on site. Additional police units were called in to reestablish public order. Jerusalem District Commander, Commissioner Avshalom Feld, visited the scene to conduct a special situation assessment and praised the officers for their swift and determined response under life-threatening conditions.
