Suspect Returns to West Bank Home and Stabs Two Children, Killing One
Israeli police are investigating the stabbing of two children in Beit Shemesh, in which a seven-year-old boy was killed and a four-year-old boy seriously injured. The suspect, a 26-year-old local resident with a history of drug use, reportedly visited the home hours before the attack, spoke briefly with the homeowner, left, and then returned to stab the children while they were playing in the yard's pool. The younger child was rushed to hospital in critical condition, while the older child died at the scene.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently held in custody, with his detention extended until August 25. Police are focusing their investigation on uncovering the motive behind the attack and gathering evidence to fully understand the circumstances. According to Guy Avrahami, deputy head of the Jerusalem District Investigation Unit, the investigation aims to piece together the events and ensure the suspect faces full legal consequences.
The children reportedly tried to escape into the house after being stabbed, attempting to seek help. The tragic event has shocked the local community as authorities continue their inquiry into the case.
