Katz Says IDF Will Stay in Buffer Zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza Indefinitely
Defense Minister Israel Katz said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are leading a policy under which the IDF will remain in security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza for an unlimited period. He said the goal is to protect the border and nearby communities from jihadist groups.
According to Katz, these areas will be cleared of local residents, and all terror infrastructure will be destroyed. He stressed, "We oppose an IDF withdrawal from Lebanon despite all the pressure."
Katz said Netanyahu has already conveyed this position to President Donald Trump and senior American officials, and that he himself made it clear to U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He also warned that if Iran attacks Israel because of developments in Lebanon, Israel will strike back with full force.
