Katz Says Israel Will Not Withdraw From Security Zones After Iran Deal
Defense Minister Israel Katz responded Monday morning to the agreement between Iran and the United States without explicitly mentioning the signing. He said he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are pursuing a policy of staying in security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, and that there will be no withdrawal from them.
Katz’s comments came amid reports from Iran claiming the deal includes a U.S. commitment to a full Israeli military pullout from Lebanon. Netanyahu had not yet responded publicly to the agreement at the time Katz spoke.
Katz also issued a direct warning to Tehran. “If it attacks Israel because of events in Lebanon, we will strike it with full force and make the power gap very clear,” he said. The remarks were made on June 15, 2026, shortly after the Iran-U.S. deal was signed.
