Katz: Israel Will Not Withdraw From Security Zones in Lebanon, Syria or Gaza
Defense Minister Israel Katz responded Monday morning to the Iran, US agreement without mentioning the deal directly. He said that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has not yet commented on the agreement, are leading a policy of keeping the Israel Defense Forces in security areas in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, so there will be no withdrawal from them.
Katz’s remarks came after Iranian reports claimed the agreement included an American commitment to a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon. Katz rejected that notion and made clear that Israel’s position remains the opposite.
He also issued a direct warning to Iran. “If it attacks Israel because of events in Lebanon, we will attack it with full force and make the power gap very clear,” Katz said.
The comments were published Monday morning, June 15, 2026, in an N12 report by Yaron Avraham.
