Israel Will Keep Security Zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza Indefinitely, Katz Says
Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF will remain in security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza for an unlimited period, speaking at a ceremony marking the end of a combat officers course at Bahad 1. He said Israel would not compromise on what he called its supreme security interest, protecting soldiers and civilians, and would not withdraw from those areas.
Katz added that commanders and fighters have full backing to complete their mission and defend themselves and Israeli civilians. He also issued a warning to Iran, saying that if Tehran attacks Israel because of its actions in Lebanon, or for any other reason, Israel will strike back with full force.
According to Katz, such an Israeli response would make clear the military gap between the two countries.
