National Insurance Clarifies Role in Disabled Parking Permits After Transport Ministry Report
Following the Transport Ministry's report on disabled parking permits, Israel's National Insurance Institute (NII) issued a clarification emphasizing that its authority and responsibility regarding these permits remain unchanged. The NII stated that the responsibility for disabled parking permits has always been and continues to be managed by the Transport Ministry. The only change involves certain parameters set by an inter-ministerial committee, where the NII's role is specifically limited to providing relevant information about eligible individuals to the Transport Ministry, as it has done previously. The Transport Ministry will continue to handle the issuance of the parking permits themselves without interruption.
Additionally, the NII highlighted efforts within the inter-ministerial team to tailor responses for unique population groups, including younger nursing care patients, dialysis patients, cancer patients, and other medical treatment recipients. The NII expressed hope that from now on, appropriate support will be provided to eligible citizens through the Transport Ministry's framework.
