Israeli Couple and Infant Rescued After Entering Jericho in West Bank
A couple from Jerusalem in their 30s and 40s entered the Palestinian city of Jericho in Area A of the West Bank with their one-year-old child. They were rescued by Israeli police and subsequently questioned under caution. Authorities suspect the couple entered Jericho to shop. The Israeli police reiterated that Israeli citizens are legally prohibited from entering Area A due to significant life-threatening risks to both the individuals entering and the security forces who must locate and extract them, often endangering their own lives. Entering Area A is a criminal offense punishable by up to one year in prison.
