Two Seriously Injured in Old Ordnance Explosion Near Metula
Six Thai foreign workers were injured Tuesday morning by the explosion of old ordnance in an open area near Metula, northern Israel. Two of the workers sustained serious injuries and were urgently evacuated by helicopter to hospitals. The remaining injured were also taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Israeli police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the incident. Bomb disposal experts were dispatched to examine the circumstances surrounding the explosion. Initial reports suggest the ordnance was leftover ammunition from a previous conflict that had not been detected or neutralized.
The Metula local council confirmed the explosion occurred in nearby nectarine orchards and emphasized there is no security threat. They stated that daily life in the community continues as usual despite the incident. Police continue to investigate the case to clarify all details.
