Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Eastern Israel with Flood Warnings Issued

Weather forecasts for mid-August predict partly cloudy skies with a slight temperature rise on Saturday, followed by local rain showers mainly in eastern Israel starting in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible, with flood warnings issued for the Judean Desert and Dead Sea areas. The Nature and Parks Authority has strictly prohibited entering flowing riverbeds on foot or by vehicle until water levels fully recede, warning of dangerous bank collapses during flash floods. Rescue units advised observing floods only from safe, elevated locations away from river channels.

The maximum UV radiation index is expected to be very high to extreme today. Extreme heat stress is forecasted in the Kinneret Valley, Dead Sea coast, Jordan Valley, and Arava regions. Heavy heat stress will affect southern Golan Heights, western Galilee, northern valleys, lower Galilee, Carmel, Menashe Heights, coastal plains, Shfela, northern Negev, Judean Desert, and eastern Negev. Temperatures will remain similar on Sunday with continued rain in the east from afternoon onward.

On Monday, temperatures will drop further, falling slightly below average in the mountains and inland, easing heat stress. Light drizzle may occur along the coast in the morning. Tuesday will be partly cloudy to clear with no significant temperature changes and possible morning drizzle on the coast.

Forecasted temperatures for Saturday range from lows of 20°C in Jerusalem to highs of 40°C in Eilat, with other notable highs including 39°C in Beit Shean and 37°C in Tiberias and Ein Gedi.
