Israel Faces Extreme Heatwave with Slight Cooling and Possible Weekend Rain

On Wednesday, Israel will experience mostly clear skies with a slight temperature drop, especially in the mountains and inland areas, though it will remain hotter than usual and dry in these regions. The coastal plain will be mild. Heavy to extreme heat stress is expected across most of the country, particularly in the southern Golan Heights, northern valleys, the Shfela region, the Dead Sea, and the Arava. The coastal plain will also endure significant heat stress. The maximum UV radiation index is forecasted to be very high to extreme. The Mediterranean Sea will be choppy, with wave heights between 50 and 80 centimeters.

On Thursday, temperatures will continue to decrease slightly, mainly in the mountains and inland, remaining somewhat warmer than average and mild along the coast. Heat stress will persist at heavy to extreme levels in most areas. By Friday, partial cloud cover will appear, with another slight temperature drop bringing conditions back to seasonal norms. Heat stress will ease somewhat, and light local rain showers are possible in northern and central Israel.

Saturday will see partly cloudy skies with little temperature change. Localized rain showers may occur mainly in eastern parts of the country during the afternoon. Temperature forecasts for Wednesday and overnight include Jerusalem at 23-33°C, Tel Aviv 24-33°C, Haifa 24-32°C, Safed 22-32°C, Katzrin 22-38°C, Tiberias 24-38°C, Nazareth 23-36°C, Afula 21-37°C, Beit She'an 26-40°C, Lod 24-35°C, Ashdod 25-33°C, Ein Gedi 30-41°C, Beersheba 24-37°C, Mitzpe Ramon 26-36°C, and Eilat 31-41°C.
