Thousands of Vizhnitz Hasidim Gather in Jerusalem as Rebbe Appears Despite Weakness

On Tuesday evening, thousands of Vizhnitz Hasidim from across Israel convened at the large study hall of the Gur Hasidic community in Jerusalem for a general assembly led by the Vizhnitz Rebbe. The gathering included clear directives from the Rebbe in light of current circumstances and featured a special fundraising event for the Vizhnitz Institutions Association. Despite recent health challenges, the Rebbe made a rare appearance, deeply moving the assembled followers. Originally planned to take place in Meron, the event was relocated to Jerusalem near the Rebbe's current residence in Ora due to his weakened condition.

The assembly opened with an emotional artistic performance by children from the American "Yiddish Nachas" group, highlighting dedication to Torah study. A unique presentation depicted a Hasid bound in chains yet engaged in Torah learning, symbolizing spiritual resilience. Prior to the Rebbe's appearance, Rabbi Menachem Ernster, head of the Vizhnitz Yeshiva and the Rebbe’s brother-in-law, led the recitation of "Shema Koleinu" in the High Holy Days' tradition, while Rabbi Yaakov Mordechai Hager, the Vizhnitz Elad Av Beit Din, recited Psalm 130.

The Gur Rebbe honored the event with a speech emphasizing the urgent call of the Torah world amid current challenges and the need to strengthen the foundation for the continuation of sacred Torah study. He was warmly received by the crowd and accompanied with great respect by the Vizhnitz Rebbe. Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, Vizhnitz Av Beit Din, welcomed the Gur Rebbe and expressed gratitude for hosting the gathering. The Vizhnitz Av Beit Din conveyed the Rebbe’s message urging the community not to enlist in the army or any alternative service programs, encouraging faith and self-sacrifice among the youth, and calling for a spiritual atonement in response to the situation.

This significant assembly underscored the unity and spiritual resolve of the Vizhnitz Hasidic community during a period of difficulty, with the Rebbe’s presence serving as a powerful symbol of endurance and leadership.
