Israeli Employer and Palestinian Worker Charged Over Theft of Over a Ton of Watermelons Near Acre

An Israeli citizen and an undocumented Palestinian worker have been indicted after being caught last week in an agricultural area near Ein HaMifratz, Acre, with over a ton of watermelons suspected to be stolen. Police investigations revealed that one suspect is a Palestinian resident of the territories, while the other is accused of illegally employing and transporting him. The pair reportedly trespassed onto the farmland with a herd of more than 300 sheep, causing damage to the crops and stealing produce. Initial estimates place the agricultural damage at several thousand shekels. In addition to the criminal charges, the Israeli employer was fined 150,000 shekels for the unauthorized grazing of the sheep on the farmland.
