Netanyahu and Jared Kushner Clash Over Peace Council Plan for Gaza

In recent days, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in several tense discussions with Jared Kushner, former US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and special envoy, regarding the Peace Council's 15-point plan for Gaza. The talks, revealed by Channel 14, occurred amid rising tensions between Israel's political leadership and the Peace Council concerning Gaza's future.

Kushner criticized Netanyahu for obstructing the initiative, saying, "You are throwing a wrench in the idea you wanted. You didn’t want Israel to control Gaza, nor Hamas, and with that desire, we established the Peace Council. Now you are blocking progress at the implementation stage." Netanyahu responded that while he supported a different arrangement in Gaza that would not pose a threat, it must come only after the complete disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of the Strip. He warned that allowing Gaza to be governed under Palestinian Authority law would effectively create a Palestinian state.

Kushner, who is the key architect behind the plan and wields significant influence over the Gaza roadmap, has been pressing for its advancement. However, due to internal government pressure and these difficult conversations, Netanyahu announced Israel's rejection of the 15-point document. The Prime Minister's office declined to comment further on the matter.

This development highlights the ongoing complexities and disagreements within Israeli leadership and between Israeli and US representatives over the future governance and security arrangements in Gaza.
