Trump Demands Compensation from Iran for Decades of Killings Amid Rising Tensions

Former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a forceful demand for Iran to pay compensation for all the people it has killed and injured over the past 50 years. His statement came in response to Iran's recent call for reparations related to damages sustained during the ongoing five-month military confrontation with the United States. Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that he has instructed his representatives to assert this demand firmly in any future negotiations with Iran.

Trump highlighted that the compensation claim includes families of victims from various incidents, including the attack on the USS Cole and thousands killed in numerous conflicts allegedly led by General Qasem Soleimani. He also referenced hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters Iran has reportedly killed over the decades, including 52,000 deaths in the last five months alone.

In a recent interview with Israel's Channel 12, Trump indicated he is not rushing to decide on either a new agreement with Iran or renewed military action, instead betting on economic pressure to weaken Tehran. He noted Iran's severe economic difficulties, including inflation and lack of funds to pay its soldiers, and praised the effectiveness of the U.S. naval blockade. Trump also mentioned the recent drop in oil prices as beneficial for U.S. fuel costs and described the situation as a strategic chess game.

Previously on the verge of ordering a broad military operation against Iran, Trump has since refrained from new threats of force. He expressed no frustration over Iran delaying an agreement with Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz and imposing new conditions for its reopening.
