Jerusalem Raises Municipal Parking Fees for Visitors Starting August 11

The Jerusalem Municipality announced a significant increase in parking fees at city-operated parking lots, effective from Tuesday morning, August 11, 2026. The new rates will mainly impact visitors and commuters, while residents will continue to benefit from a discounted rate. In central Jerusalem, parking fees for the general public will rise from 18 to 22 shekels per hour, a 22 percent increase. In other city areas, the fee will increase from 12 to 15 shekels per hour, a 25 percent hike. However, in the Talpiot area, the rate will remain unchanged at 12 shekels per hour to accommodate ongoing infrastructure and development work.

Jerusalem residents holding the 'Yerushalmi' discount card will maintain a preferential rate of 11 shekels per hour across all municipal parking lots, with charges calculated by actual minutes parked as per the law. This discount means residents pay roughly half the price visitors do in central Jerusalem, with an 11 shekel difference per hour. The municipality stated that the fee adjustments aim to regulate demand in the city center, encourage public transportation use, especially the light rail, and address rising operational costs of parking facilities. All affected parking lots are managed by the Eden company. The public is advised to take note of the new rates and plan accordingly.
