Jerusalem Raises Parking Fees for Visitors Starting Tomorrow, Residents Keep Discounts

Starting tomorrow, parking rates in Jerusalem's municipal lots will increase for non-residents, with central city parking set at 22 shekels per hour. However, Jerusalem residents holding the "Yerushalmi" discount will continue to pay the reduced rate of 11 shekels per hour across all municipal parking facilities. In the Talpiot area, parking fees will remain unchanged at 12 shekels per hour to support local residents and business owners amid ongoing infrastructure and development works.

The Jerusalem municipality emphasized that parking charges will continue to be calculated by actual minutes used, in accordance with the law. The fee hike applies to lots operated by Eden, the city’s economic development company, aiming to regulate demand in the city center, encourage public transportation use, especially the light rail, and address rising operational costs. The municipality stressed that the significant discount for Jerusalem residents will be preserved despite the general price increase.

This adjustment reflects the city's efforts to balance urban development, transportation policy, and economic factors while maintaining benefits for local residents.
