Israel's National Insurance to Disburse 1,204 Shekel Education Grant Per Eligible Child

Ahead of the 2023-2024 school year starting September 1, Israel's National Insurance Institute will distribute the annual education grant to eligible families on August 11. The grant amounts to 1,204 shekels per qualifying child and aims to help cover expenses such as school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and other necessities.

Eligibility includes children of self-employed parents, single-parent families, and families with four or more children under 18 who receive certain social benefits like general disability, income support, alimony, survivor benefits, or senior citizen allowances. For the 2023-2024 school year, the grant applies to children born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2020. Families with multiple eligible children will receive the grant multiplied accordingly, for example, 2,408 shekels for two children and 4,816 shekels for four.

Exceptions exist for first and twelfth graders outside the birthdate range, who may qualify upon submitting proof of enrollment to the National Insurance Institute. The grant is paid to children up to age 18, and families are encouraged to verify their eligibility, especially if payments do not arrive automatically. This financial support arrives just weeks before school begins, providing significant relief for families facing back-to-school expenses.
