National Insurance Distributes Annual 1,204 Shekel Education Grant to Eligible Families in August 2026

As summer progresses and preparations for the 2026-2027 school year are underway, Israel's National Insurance Institute announced the details of its annual education grant. This year, eligible families will receive a one-time payment of 1,204 shekels per child, deposited directly into the bank accounts used for regular child allowance payments during August 2026.

The grant targets two main groups: single-parent families raising school-age children and large families with four or more children under 18 who also receive other National Insurance benefits such as income support, general disability, alimony, survivors’ benefits, or senior citizen allowances. Eligibility applies to children born between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2020. However, there is flexibility for first graders and twelfth graders outside this age range, who can submit official school enrollment confirmation for individual eligibility review.

For most recipients, the process is automatic with no need for applications or documents. The National Insurance Institute advises parents to wait for the deposit and avoid inquiries before August 12. Certain cases require proactive claims, including parents living separately for at least two years, women in protective shelters, new immigrants residing in Israel between one and two years with spouses abroad, and those selected for data verification who must complete a declaration online.

In divorce or separation situations, the grant is typically paid to the parent receiving the child allowance unless a court order or agreement specifies otherwise. Eligibility verification will be based on updated family data from July and August 2026.
