Jerusalem Man Arrested for Murder Six Days After Prison Release

The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment statement on Monday against a 31-year-old resident of Eilat suspected of murdering a foreign worker in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem. The incident occurred on July 23, just six days after the suspect was released from a long prison sentence for a previous violent offense. Police responding to the scene found the victim dead with signs of violence on his body. The crime scene was secured and initial investigations by the district's forensic team quickly identified the case as a criminal act.

Jerusalem District Commander, Commissioner Avshalom Peled, arrived at the scene and held a special situation assessment with district command, ordering rapid investigative measures and assigning the case to the Central Unit (YAMAR) of the Jerusalem district. Investigators conducted focused operational and investigative activities, leading to the suspect's arrest shortly thereafter. Following the investigation, YAMAR detectives established a strong evidentiary basis against the suspect.

The indictment statement was submitted to the Magistrate's Court, and formal charges are expected to be filed in the coming days. YAMAR investigation team leader Sergeant Major Yitzhak Dahan described the case as a severe act of violence against a foreign worker who cared for an elderly couple. He emphasized the swift and professional work of the investigators in gathering evidence and apprehending the suspect, which culminated in the filing of the indictment statement.
