Young Woman Receives Acid Instead of Anesthetic During Nose Surgery at TLV Medical Center

An 18-year-old woman who arrived for a cosmetic nose surgery at TLV Medical Center last Friday was mistakenly given a tampon soaked in acid instead of a local anesthetic during the preoperative preparation. The error was discovered shortly after the tampon was inserted into her nose. Medical staff immediately sedated and intubated her before transferring her in serious condition to Ichilov Hospital via Magen David Adom for further treatment.

Since Friday, the patient has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Ichilov, where medical teams continue to monitor her condition and treat the injuries caused by the acid exposure. Her condition is currently stable. The exact nature of the substance on the tampon, how it was confused with the anesthetic, and how it reached the surgical preparation stage remain unclear. TLV Medical Center has stated it will release an official response once more information is available.
