Iran and Oman Set to Announce Joint Control Over Strategic Strait of Hormuz

Iran and Oman have finalized agreements to jointly control the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which about one-fifth of the world's oil passes. According to sources close to the negotiations, the two countries are expected to announce the temporary agreement imminently, possibly within hours. While similar reports have surfaced in recent days, this time the deal appears to be fully implemented and ready for public declaration.

The agreement will initially be applied as a 60-day pilot program. If successful, it could become permanent. The deal reportedly grants Iran significant influence, including veto power over maritime traffic through the strait. Iran will receive information on the identity of every ship entering or exiting the Persian Gulf and require approval from the Revolutionary Guards' command for passage.

Both nations are preparing a joint statement to formalize the arrangement. The move marks a significant strategic achievement for Iran, enhancing its control over a critical global oil transit route and potentially shifting regional maritime dynamics.
