Decomposed Body Found Near Petah Tikva During Search for Missing Eldar Dayan

During the ongoing search for the missing Eldar Dayan, police discovered a decomposed body this morning near Petah Tikva. The body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for identification and to determine the cause of death, with investigators examining whether it is Dayan. Dayan has been missing since July 18, over two weeks ago. Earlier this week, two helmets believed to belong to Dayan and his friends on the day of his disappearance were found.

Dayan is suspected by police to have gone into hiding after driving without a license and injuring a friend, leading to a manhunt. Meanwhile, the detention of his friends Omri Peretz and Maxim Berberman was extended by four days. Dayan's family criticized the police for mishandling the search over 11 days, releasing inaccurate information that harmed the family, and later retracting it.
