Three-Year-Old Boy Fatally Hit by Car in Ar'ara; Suspect Arrested

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the town of Ar'ara, where a three-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle. Emergency services received a report of a critically injured child, who later died at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. Police from the Iron Station, led by Chief Superintendent Tzachi Ben Haim, promptly arrived at the scene, conducted an initial assessment, and arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run. This event follows a recent case involving a hit-and-run fatality in Netanya, where 81-year-old Karol Pesler was convicted of leaving the scene after hitting a four-year-old boy, Rafael Adna, who later died from his injuries. Pesler has appealed the conviction, arguing that the court erred in ruling she knowingly fled the scene, claiming instead that any failure to stop was due to negligence rather than intentional abandonment. Her defense attorney, Shahar Mendelman, emphasized the legal distinction between negligence and conscious abandonment, which carries significantly different penalties.
