Three-Year-Old Toddler Injured by Car in Kiryat Ata Dies
Rambam Hospital in Haifa said this morning, Tuesday, that doctors were forced to pronounce dead the 3-year-old toddler who was injured yesterday by a car in Kiryat Ata, after prolonged resuscitation efforts. The accident took place yesterday on Pinsker Street in the city, and initial details indicate it happened in a residential building parking lot, when the driver was reversing and did not see the toddler, who suddenly appeared.
MDA emergency medic Avraham Feibelzon described the difficult scene: "We received a report of a toddler injured by a vehicle. When we arrived at the scene, we saw the toddler unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, suffering from severe multi-system trauma. We began advanced resuscitation efforts at the accident scene, and while continuing resuscitation efforts we evacuated her in an MDA intensive care ambulance to the hospital, with her condition defined as critical."
On Saturday, a woman about 20 years old was killed in a traffic accident involving a truck and a private vehicle on Route 90, near the Arava Junction. The truck driver, a man about 30 years old, was seriously injured. He was extricated after being trapped in his vehicle and evacuated by helicopter to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Hours earlier, a man about 40 years old was killed in a traffic accident on Route 5, near the Kassem Interchange. MDA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene treated him medically, but were forced to pronounce him dead shortly afterward. Two other people were injured in that accident, a 39-year-old woman who was moderately injured and another person whose condition was defined as mild.
