Israel Successfully Tests Advanced Arrow Missile Defense System Upgrade

Israel's Ministry of Defense, the IDF, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) have successfully completed a planned test of the Arrow missile defense system. The trial, conducted on August 5, 2026, at a test range in central Israel, evaluated the system's capabilities against future threats, integrating combat experience, artificial intelligence, and new technologies. This test is part of a multi-year program to develop and upgrade the Arrow system, which is critical to Israel's air defense strategy.

The Arrow system's fire control is developed by Elbit Systems, while the government-owned Tomer Rocket Propulsion Company, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, and the American company STARK serve as main subcontractors for interceptor development and production. Senior representatives from the MDA participated in the test, underscoring the close US-Israel collaboration on this defense project.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that continuous upgrades to the Arrow system ensure Israel's preparedness against current and emerging threats. The ministry also highlighted the importance of maintaining technological superiority and strengthening both defensive and offensive capabilities to safeguard national security. IAI's advanced systems provide comprehensive detection, classification, and tracking of aerial threats, supported by dedicated personnel working around the clock to protect Israel's airspace.
