Police Arrest Two Suspects After High-Speed Chase Near Shefa-Amr, Seize Glock Pistol

Two young men were arrested on Wednesday following a police chase near Shefa-Amr, during which the driver reportedly fled at high speed against traffic, endangering other road users. The incident occurred on Route 781, where officers from the Border Police's Internal Security Division, the Galilee Yasam unit, and Shefa-Amr police station spotted a suspicious vehicle and ordered it to stop for inspection. When the driver failed to comply and began a dangerous escape, including driving against traffic, police initiated a pursuit.

During the chase, officers employed a suspect arrest procedure that involved shooting at the vehicle's tires to bring it to a halt. The two suspects, aged 18 from Ibtin and 21 from I'billin, were apprehended at the end of the pursuit. A search of the vehicle uncovered a Glock pistol. The suspects were interrogated at the Shefa-Amr police station, and police plan to request an extension of their detention from the court.

Police noted that since the beginning of the year, over 530 illegal weapons have been seized in the northern district as part of ongoing efforts to combat violent crime.
