Gett Expands Into Large Vehicle Shuttle Services Across Israel

Starting Tuesday, Gett, the Israeli ride-hailing app, has launched a new service allowing users to book larger vehicles such as vans, minibuses, and buses with up to 55 seats. This expansion transforms Gett into a comprehensive transportation platform. The new service operates in partnership with Rideeazy, an Elektra Afikim platform that aggregates dozens of shuttle providers nationwide. While bookings and payments are handled through Gett’s app, the actual transportation is provided by these shuttle companies.

The updated app interface consolidates all transportation options on a single main screen. Users must book large vehicles at least 12 hours in advance. Pricing is predetermined based on distance, trip duration, and number of stops, and is displayed before confirming the booking. For example, with a launch coupon of 100 shekels, a 13-seat minibus ride from Tel Aviv to Ben Gurion Airport costs 526 shekels, while a larger vehicle from Jerusalem to the airport costs 764 shekels. A bus trip from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is priced at 1,675 shekels. Gett states that prices vary by route, day, and time but are expected to remain competitive, typically about 10% below market rates even without discounts.

Gett’s expansion comes amid its dominance of Israel’s taxi market, which has led to the disappearance of traditional taxi stands and a shift to meter-based payments. This dominance has caused tensions with taxi drivers who fear the app threatens their livelihoods. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Miri Regev’s efforts to introduce ride-sharing services like Uber to Israel have not succeeded. Gett CEO Mark On emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding transportation options while maintaining a simple and reliable user experience, promising further platform enhancements in the coming months.
