Massive Wildfire Near Ben Shemen Forest Forces Closure of Major Highways 6 and 1

A large wildfire that erupted in the Ben Shemen forest area on Tuesday afternoon rapidly spread, prompting the complete closure of major transportation routes in central Israel. Highway 6 was shut down in both directions near the Daniel Interchange and Ben Shemen, while Highway 1 eastbound was partially closed, with traffic redirected to alternative routes such as Highway 444 and Highway 443. Emergency response included dozens of firefighting teams from the Ayalon station, supported by four firefighting aircraft dropping retardants to contain the blaze.
