Lebanese Army Thwarts Major Shipment of Grad Rockets from Syria

The Lebanese Army recently intercepted a significant arms smuggling operation involving dozens of Grad rockets, explosives, and other weapons. According to a statement from the Lebanese military, after intensive surveillance of smuggling activities along the northern and eastern borders, a unit operating near Arsal seized 122mm Grad rockets that had been smuggled from Syria into Lebanon. The operation also included the capture of a pickup truck used to transport the weapons and the arrest of civilians involved in the smuggling.

In addition to the seizure, the Lebanese Army conducted raids on facilities linked to the smuggling network, uncovering combat ammunition and military equipment. These actions were part of ongoing efforts by Lebanese intelligence and enforcement units to disrupt arms trafficking, which is believed to be connected to Hezbollah's arsenal buildup.

The Lebanese military emphasized the importance of these operations in maintaining border security and preventing the flow of weapons that could destabilize the region. Further investigations and security measures are expected to continue targeting smuggling networks in the area.
