Lebanese Army Foils Grad Missile Smuggling from Syria Amid Lebanon-Israel Talks in Rome
The Lebanese Army announced it thwarted an attempt to smuggle 122mm Grad missiles from Syria into Lebanon during a security operation in the Jurud Arsal area near the northern and eastern borders. The operation led to the seizure of the missiles, a pickup truck used for transport, and the arrest of two members of the smuggling network. The army also conducted searches to locate additional network members and confiscated ammunition and military equipment. This development coincides with a new round of Lebanon-Israel negotiations taking place in Rome. Earlier in July, Syrian authorities reported intercepting a large shipment of weapons and missiles, including long-range missiles, anti-tank guided missiles, and drones, intended for Hezbollah in Lebanon, which they described as a terrorist militia.
