Israeli Lawyer and Four Others Arrested for Allegedly Coaching Minors to Give False Testimony in Security Case

Israeli police from the Central District arrested a lawyer in her 30s and four other suspects from Ramla on Tuesday. They are suspected of coaching minors to provide false testimony in a criminal-security case. The lawyer represents a defendant charged in January with serious security offenses, including terrorism-related shooting, arson, and weapons manufacturing in Ramla. While the defendant was in custody, the lawyer approached investigators claiming to have evidence that could exonerate her client and submitted materials for prosecution review.

Suspicion arose regarding the origin, manner, and timing of the evidence submission, prompting the Central District Investigations Unit to launch a covert investigation. It uncovered that the lawyer and others, including the defendant’s family members, allegedly approached several minors and their parents from the central region. They reportedly tried to persuade the minors to falsely testify that the defendant was with them during the crimes to create an alibi and secure his acquittal.

The suspects allegedly used offers of money, pressure, and threats to coerce the minors into giving false statements. After months of undercover work, the investigation became public with the arrests. The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court for a remand extension hearing on Wednesday.
